How to Prevent Everyday Hair Tangling

How to Prevent Everyday Hair Tangling

Whether your hair is long or short, we know the struggle all too well. Learning how to deal with hair tangles is such a pain. We all can’t wake up every day expecting to have great hair but throwing in some tangles and knots can make mornings even worse. Fortunately, using the correct conditioning products in your hair care routine can help promote hydration and lead to fewer tangles in the long run. Instead of fighting a losing battle with your hairbrush, read on to see how you can keep knots at bay.

  • Conditioning your hair

Use your time in the shower as an opportunity to easily get rid of stubborn knots. It’s the perfect moment for detangling because conditioner can provide enough lubrication to the hair to soften up any tangles, making it much easier to brush through them. When showering, Condition your hair at least twice. You can start from the ends and move upward slightly toward your scalp. Once conditioned, leave it in for about 5 minutes then rinse and repeat. The second time you condition your hair, really focus on the bottom half of the hair down to the ends. Especially when straightening hair with heat products, your ends will most likely be damaged and need all the repairing you can give.

  • Use a Comb brush

Use a comb brush to brush my hair to help minimize breakage and you will instantly notice a change. I know it can be difficult, but just like brushing your teeth, it really makes a difference to brush your hair in the morning and before you go to sleep. While most brushes can help you with your knots, a detangling comb will allow you to do it so smoothly, reducing the amount of pressure applied to both the mane and scalp. This means there’s minimal damage for maximum, amazing results — bonus!

  • Add extra hydration with a Hair Mask

If your hair doesn’t have enough moisture, we recommend treating your strands to a hair mask like our Kbs Hair Mask which can help in your battle against tangles with its infused ingredients of Argan Oil and Vitamin F which focus on treating the hair by hydrating it and adding extra proteins and nutrients. That’s because tangle-prone hair is often dry or lacking in hydration, which can be a reason why it becomes matted. Before stepping out of the shower, apply the KBS Hair Mask after Shampooing and focus mostly on the ends of your hair and any parts that tangle the most. After 10 minutes you can proceed to rinse, your hair will feel softer making it possible to glide a brush through your hair without running into snags. After rinsing you can apply the After Care Conditioner and finally rinse again and once you dry you will begin to notice your hair shinier and more hydrated.

  • Trim your hair Religiously

Believe it or not, even getting a simple trim for your hair can work wonders. If your hair grows pretty fast, and usually ends up with split ends sooner than you’d like, we recommend trimming off those splits end. Cutting off those dead ends can really help keep the tangles away and leave your hair looking healthier and bouncier. And if you don’t feel like visiting your hairstylist often, you can try fixing those ends without trimming with the help of an Argan Oil.

  • Avoid HEAT

This might be quite a difficult challenge to overcome but think about it. If you consistently blow-dry, straighten, or curl your hair, just imagine how much heat your hair strands are exposed to! This inevitably leads to dry, dull hair that is prone to breakage, and as we already know, dry hair is more prone to tangling. If you can’t live without your hot tools, we recommend to at least use your hot tools on a low to medium temperature setting, and to always use a heat protectant before styling.

  • Rinse your hair with Cold Water

We know, this one sounds a bit crazy, especially during those cold winter months. But after a hot shower, your hair cuticles are open, which leads to frizz and tangling while drying. Rinsing your hair with cold water before you hop out of the shower will help to seal the cuticles, close them up, ensure they dry smoothly, which prevents tangling. Try it next time…if you dare.
